Objective of Fan Tan Live
The objective of Fan Tan is to predict the number of beads that will remain in the last line once the selected beads are removed and sorted into lines of four beads!
Game Play Explained
During the betting time the dealer will select a random number of beads with the cup. The game round starts once the betting time is over. Only the beads selected using the cup will form part of the game round.
When the betting time is over, the selected beards are sorted into lines of four beads each. The beads are then sorted with a special stick that groups the beads into groups of 4.
The dealer continues to group the beads into lines of 4 until the final remaining beads (1 to 4) are placed in the centre of the table. This final line represents the Fan Tan game result.
Fan Tan Bet Types and Game Views
There are 2 view options a player can pick from in Fan Tan, default and advanced view. The default view allows a player to place bets on the main bet types whereas the advanced view includes the more traditional Fan Tan bets.
Players can easily swap between the 2 views using the “more bets” icon. During an active round, a player can switch between the default and advanced view only if a player has no bets on the advanced bet spots.
Bet Types
Each of the available bet options have their own pay-outs. A winning bet is paid out on top of the player’s original bet amount. bets on multiple bet spots during a round.
Fan Tan bet types available in default view are:
- 1, 2, 3, 4 – bet on a single number of beads remaining. Payout 2.85:1
- Big/Small – bet on the number of beads remaining being big (3 & 4) or small (1 & 2). Payout 0.95:1
- Odd/Even – bet on the number of beads remaining being odd (1 & 3) or even (2 & 4). Payout 0.95:1
In the advanced view, players have the all the default view bets plus the more advanced traditional bets listed below:
- Nim – a bet placed on two possible numbers of beads remaining. When the first number displayed on the Nim bet spot is the game result, you win. If the last number displayed is the game result it is a draw. You will then receive your original bet amount back. Payout 1.90:1
- Kwok – a bet that allows you to place a bet on 2 possible number of beads remaining. The numbers of the Kwok bet spot indicate which numbers you are betting on. Payout 0.95:1.
- Ssh – Placing a bet on the Ssh bet spot allows for a layer to bet on 3 possible number of beads remaining. Numbers indicated on the spot show which ones you are betting on. Payout 0.316667:1
Evolution Fan Tan FAQ
Fan Tan is a traditional Asian game similar to roulette! The objective of the game is to guess how many beads between 1 and 4 will remain at the end of the game round.
The minimum bet we have observed at South African bookmakers is R2 and the maximum bet R10,000.
Fan Tan only has a single round. Players have a pre-round betting period, which once it is over starts the actual gaming round.
The theoretical optimal RTP (return-to-player) is 98.75%, this is based on the Ssh bet. The RTP range is 96.25% to 98.75%.
Fan Tan by Evolution – Game Review Summary
Fan Tan is definitely new to us. Up until we set out to write this review we had no idea that this game even existed.
When opening the game for the first time and seeing the dealer with the cup and beads we did not know what to expect. We watched a few rounds to see if we could get to grips with the game play and then read the game help to make sure we understood it all.
The game is not difficult to understand and once you know how the game and the different bet types work is actually quite a lot of fun. Being able to switch between the default (easy) and advanced bet types also adds a different dimension to the game and gives the player a much wider range of bets to bet on.
As with all Evolution Live Dealer games a player can easily manage their game preferences. From switching the chat on or off, changing the camera view or the volume levels – you can customise these from the setting options top right.
As with all online roulette games and most retail roulettes, a player can easily find historical results to then assist them with their own betting strategy.
It’s time to try Fan Tan!
Fan Tan is definitely something different and not, if ever, seen in a real casino in South Africa. This does not mean that it will not be popular with South African punters.
