February 2024 Sport Preview
January 2024 was quite the start to the sports year which saw Italian Jannik Sinner beat Daniil Medvedev to win his 1st Slam Title at the Australian Open. Sabalenka also wins the Aus Open for a 2nd year in a row. Then Egypt were eliminated from AFCON by DR Congo in a thriller of a penalty shootout.
We also experienced the excitement of West Indies beating Australia for the 1st time on Australian home ground in 27 years! So let us have a closer look at what we can look forward to in our February Sport Preview 2024
Ongoing Sports Events
- Betway SA20 2024: Durban’s Super Giants are top of the standings with 23 points, Then we have the Park Royals with 22 points. In 3rd place are the Sunrisers Eastern Cape with 19 points and Pretoria Capitals in 4th with 10 points. 5th and 6th are MI Cape Town with 9 points and Joburg Super Kings with 8 points. - U19 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup: 19 January – 10 February 2024. The U19 Proteas have secured 1st place in their Group B, now they need to conquer the Super Six Stages which start on 31 January! Also some outstanding players to watch out for are Steve Stolk, Dewan Marais and Kwena Maphaka.
Soccer Update for February
UEFA Champions League: So the next round commences in February 2024. It will start on 13 February 2024 with Copenhagen facing off with Man City and also RB Leipzig against Real Madrid. Lets see what February brings!
EPL: Liverpool remains in 1st position with 48 points, Man City are in a close 2nd with 43 points and Arsenal are also up in 3rd with a similar score of 43 points. Another team with 43 points is Aston Villa and it is mostly goal difference separating this last lot. In 5th we still have Tottenham with 40 points.
Serie A: Inter remains 1st with 54 points, Juventus in 2nd with 53 points. Then we have Milan in 3rd with 46 points, Atalanta in 4th with 36 points and in 5th place is Roma with 35 points.
LaLiga: Girona is in 1st position with 55 points, Real Madrid with 54 in 2nd position. Atletico Madrid in 3rd with 44 points and also Barcelona in 4th with 44 points. And then Athletic Club in 5th with 42 points.
Bundesliga: Leverkusen take the lead at 49 points, then Bayern with 47 points. In 3rd place we have VfB Stuttgart at 37 points and Dortmund in 4th with 36 points. In 5th we also have RB Leipzig with 33 points.
AFCON update: As AFCON heads into the quarter final stages we have seen many surprises! Bafana Bafana v Morocco on 30 Jan 2024 was an epic battle! And Bafana came out victorious with 2 goals to 0. Ivory Coast also knocked out Senegal on penalties and DR Congo beat Egypt. So what will happen next?
Guinness Six Nations
The Guinness Six Nations 2024 is almost upon us! It starts on 3 February with France vs Ireland at the Orange Velodrome. On the same day we will see Italy vs England at Stadio Olimpico and Wales vs Scotland at Principality Stadium. The Six Nations will run up until mid March and we are sure to see an epic battle. There is plenty of new talent and new faces to look forward to with new challenges waiting.
Super Bowl 2024
The Super Bowl, an annual spectacle that transcends sports, dominates February. With millions tuned in to witness the pinnacle of American football, betting aficionados eagerly wager on everything from the game’s outcome to the length of the halftime show, also making it a prime event for sportsbooks. The Super Bowl will be on 11 February and Usher is the halftime performer.
Protea New Zealand Cricket Tour

ISA World surfing games
The ISA World Surfing Games continue in Puerto Rico on 23 February 2024. In our February 2024 Sport Preview we thought it adequate to mention this major event. This is the final qualifier for the Paris Olympics 2024 and also 12 individuals will claim slots for the Games in Puerto Rico.
Grand Prix
Pre Season testing is on 21-23 February in Bahrain, which is also the lead up to the 1st Grand Prix on 29 February 2024. The race will consist of 57 laps and the circuit length is 5.41km. HSBC 7’s
